Yet Another Sign That Italy May Have Slipped Into Recession

(Bloomberg) -- Italy’s economic slump extended into December, adding to signs that the euro region’s third-biggest economy might have entered into recession in the final months of 2018. That’s according to the Bank of Italy’s indicator of real-time estimates of the trend in economic activity, and backs up manufacturing data earlier this week, which also showed a contraction. Italy’s statistics office is set to publish a preliminary reading for the fourth quarter at the end of January.
