ADB Keeps Developing Asia 2018 GDP Forecast at 6%; 2019 5.8%

(Bloomberg) -- The Asian Development Bank keeps Developing Asia’s 2018 growth forecast at 6 percent in its latest Asian Development Outlook Update.

  • China growth forecast maintained at 6.6% y/y
  • South Korea growth forecast cut to 2.9% y/y from 3%
  • India growth forecast maintained at 7.3% y/y
  • Indonesia growth forecast cut to 5.2% y/y from 5.3%
  • Thailand growth forecast raised to 4.5% y/y from 4%
  • Malaysia growth forecast cut to 5% y/y from 5.3%
  • Philippines growth forecast cut to 6.4% y/y from 6.8%
  • "The biggest risk to continued growth comes from the disruption of international production linkages caused by a further escalation of trade tensions, but Asia’s growth should remain resilient to the direct effects of the trade measures taken to date,"  Yasuyuki Sawada, ADB’s chief economist says
