U.K. Exporters Failed to Make the Most of ‘Sweet Spot’

(Bloomberg) -- British exporters have failed to make the most of the post-referendum “sweet spot,” and the time to do so may have passed. Businesses exporting from the U.K. mostly pocketed the exchange-rate windfall after the 2016 Brexit vote, rather than taking the opportunity to bolster output, according to Bloomberg Economics’ Dan Hanson and Jamie Murray. Last year would have been the ideal time to do so, since growth in the euro area and the U.K.’s other export partners picked up.
