BJP President Amit Shah’s Stock Picks

The total investment of Amit Shah and his wife in listed and unlisted stocks stood at Rs 21.95 crore as on March 22.

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, who started out as a stock broker before plunging into active politics, disclosed assets worth more than Rs 20 crore while submitting his nomination papers for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.

Shah’s total investments in capital markets, including shares, mutual funds, and debentures, stood at Rs 17.59 crore, while his wife’s investments were worth Rs 4.36 crore, according to the BJP chief’s affidavit filed with the Election Commission on March 30.

Amit Shah’s Holding In RIL And TV 18

Shah’s biggest investments are in Reliance Industries Ltd. and TV18 Broadcast Ltd.—both Mukesh Ambani-led companies. The BJP chief and his wife hold shares worth Rs 2.08 crore in Reliance Industries and Rs 24.22 lakh in TV18. These two stocks put together account for nearly 10 percent of Shah’s stock market portfolio.

Investments In FMCG Stocks

Among the consumer goods makers, Shah and his wife hold shares worth Rs 1.25 crore in Procter and Gamble. The BJP chief also holds substantial shares in other major fast-moving consumer goods companies such Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and ITC Ltd.

Shah’s total investment in key FMCG stocks stood at Rs 4.26 crore as on March 22. That’s nearly 20 percent of his total portfolio of listed securities.

Amit Shah’s Auto Portfolio

Shah and his wife hold shares worth Rs 2.8 crore in key auto and auto ancillaries companies, including Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Rane Engine Valve Ltd., MRF Ltd. and Bajaj Auto Ltd.

Investments In Gujarat-Based Firms

Shah’s wife holds shares worth more than Rs 55 lakh in Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd. and Rs 42 lakh in Dilip Shanghvi-led Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd.

IT, Public Sector Entities Also In Portfolio

Shah holds shares in State Bank of India, Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.

Among information technology stocks, Shah holds shares worth Rs 1.3 crore in Infosys Ltd. and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. His investments in Birla Group companies stood at nearly Rs 1.4 crore.

Shah and his wife also hold shares in Tata Steel Ltd. and JSW Steel Ltd., among other conglomerates.
