17 States Receive Rs 9,871 Crore In Revenue Deficit Grant

The 17 states received tenth instalment for FY22.

The central government has released Rs 9,871 crore to 17 states as part of the statutory grant to meet their revenue gap.

The Department of Expenditure released the post devolution revenue deficit grant to these states based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, according to a statement by the Finance Ministry. It's the tenth instalment for the financial year 2021-22.

"So far, an amount of Rs 98,710 crore has been released to eligible states as post devolution revenue deficit grant in the current financial year," the statement said. The 15th Finance Commission has recommended a total payout of Rs 1,18,452 crore to the 17 states in FY22 under this head.

The 17 states are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
