The risk of data security becomes more imminent with aggregation of large databases that include biometrics and other sensitive information such as Aadhaar, said Anne Toth, Head of Data Policy, Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution at the World Economic Forum.

These databases are usually prime targets among hackers. And countries, therefore, need to think about not just how to "use this data for societal and commercial good" but also protect it against misuse, she told BloombergQuint on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos.

“Maximising the value of data while protecting it,” is the way forward with the current state of data proliferation, according to her.
