Hotels, Eateries, Bars To Start Operating From Oct. 5 In Maharashtra

The state government has extended the lockdown till Oct. 31.

India’s richest state has extended its lockdown till Oct. 31, which was imposed following the Covid-19 outbreak, even as it eased several restrictions.

Hotels, restaurants, bars and food courts will be allowed to operate from Oct. 5 at capacity exceeding half in Maharashtra, the state government said in a statement.

What’s Allowed

  • Separate standard operating procedures will be issued by the Tourism Department for necessary precautions to be taken while operating the above-mentioned eateries.
  • All trains originating and ending their journey within the state to be restarted with immediate effect subject to protocols regarding Covid-19 laid down by the state and federal governments.
  • Indian Railways to increase the frequency of local trains in the Mumbai metropolitan region to meet increased demand subject to the protocols regarding Covid-19 laid down by the state and central governments.
  • Dabbawalas in the MMR region to be allowed in local trains after procuring QR codes from the Mumbai police commissioner’s office.
  • There shall be free movement of oxygen carrying vehicles within and out of the state without timing restrictions. The competent authorities shall ensure the free movement of such vehicles and there shall be no restriction on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Local trains in Pune region to resume as per procedures followed in MMR region. The Pune police commissioner will be the nodal officer for the same.

What’s Not Allowed

  • Schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed. Online/distance learning shall continue and shall be encouraged.
  • Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres (including those in malls and market complexes), auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places.
  • International air travel of passengers, as permitted by Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Metro rail services
  • Social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions and other large congregations.

Maharashtra recorded 18,317 new cases of Covid-19 taking the total tally at13,84,446, according to the state’s Health Ministry bulletin on Sept. 30.
