Dharavi Records 66 New Covid-19 Cases Today

This takes the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 1,028.

Dharavi recorded 66 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, taking the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 1,028.

Among the latest to test positive are women aged between nine years and 63 years and men aged between 20 years and 70 years, said Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner in charge of the G/North Ward in Central Mumbai.

The Epidemic Cell announced nine more deaths in Dharavi taking the total count of deaths to 40, added Dighavkar. “These nine people passed away earlier on different dates and the deaths were conveyed to ward office subsequently.”

Dharavi is a sprawl of shanties spread over 240 hectares with a population of 8.5 lakh and over 13,000 small businesses.

Of the 66 fresh cases:

  • Eight were from Matunga Labour Camp.
  • Five from Dhondu Mistry Chawl.
  • Three each from 90 Feet Road, Azad Nagar and Geetanjali Nagar and Vijay Nagar.
  • Two each from Kerusheth Chawl, 60 Feet Road, Kumbharwada, Social Nagar, and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.
  • One each from Darga Chawl, Bisnath Chawl, Kamla Nehru Nagar, Garib Nagar, Dharavi Cross Road, Kamdev Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Sakina Bhai Chawl, Janta CHS, Transit Camp, Ganesh Vikas Mandal, Sangram Nagar, New Parsi Chawl, KM Chaughule Chawl, Shahu Nagar, Kamal Raman Nagar, Mukund Nagar, Vaibhav CHS, Sant Kakaiyya Marg, Dhorwada, New Transit Camp, Muslim Nagar, Kala Killa, Kamla Nagar, Balaji Building, Jai Ram Chaughule Chawl, Rajiv Gandhi Marg, Om Sai Chawl, BMC Chawl, PMGP Colony

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra has 24,427 cases of Covid-19.
