Dharavi Records 46 New Covid-19 Cases Today, Including One Death

That takes the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 962.

Dharavi recorded 46 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, including one death, taking the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 962.

Among the latest to test positive are women aged between 18 years and 85 years and men aged between 18 years and 72 years, said Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner in charge of the G/North Ward in Central Mumbai.

31 people have died so far due to Covid-19 in Dharavi, a sprawl of shanties spread over 240 hectares with a population of 8.5 lakh and over 13,000 small businesses.

Of the 46 fresh cases:

  • Eight were from Matunga Labour Camp.
  • Seven each from 90 Feet Road and Dharavi Cross Road.
  • Five from T Junction.
  • Three each from Dharavi Main Road, Indira Kureshi Nagar and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar.
  • Two each from Transit Camp and Kuttiwadi.
  • One each from 60 Feet Road, Naik Nagar, Kumbharwada, PV Chawl, New Municipal Chawl, Kala Killa.

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra has 23,401 cases of Covid-19.
