Dharavi Records 25 New Cases Of Covid-19; Total Tally At 369, Including 18 Deaths

That takes the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 369.

Dharavi recorded 25 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 today, taking the total count of infected people in Mumbai’s biggest slum to 369.

Of the 25 cases, three cases each were recorded from Kunchikurve Nagar and Dhorwada; two each from 90 Feet Road, Shastri Nagar, Indira Nagar and 60 Feet Road; and one each from Shiv Shakti Nagar, Azad Nagar, Kalyanwadi, Pivla Bungalow, Kumbharwada, Labour Camp, Transit Camp, PMGP Colony, Social Nagar, Chaugule Chawl and Muslim Nagar, said Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner in charge of the G/North Ward in Central Mumbai.

Among the latest to test positive are seven women aged between 25 years and 65 years and 18 men aged between 25 years and 77 years.

So far, 18 people have died because of complications related to Covid-19 in Dharavi, a sprawl of shanties spread over 240 hectares with a population of 8.5 lakh and over 13,000 small businesses.

According to Maharashtra Health Ministry’s media bulletin today, the state recorded 583 new cases of Covid-19 taking the total tally at 10,498. Total number of cases in Mumbai stands at 7,061.
