Serum Institute of India has announced pricing for its Covishield vaccine, a couple of days after the central government allowed manufacturers to fix rates for states and private market, under the third phase of its immunisation drive.

The world’s largest vaccine maker will supply Covishield to state governments at Rs 400 a dose, and to private hospitals at Rs 600 per shot, according to its statement on Wednesday.

Serum said according to Feb. 19 guidelines, 50% of the vaccine production capacity shall be served to the Government of India’s programme, while the remaining shall be for state governments and private hospitals.

Serum said it will address the limited capacity by scaling up vaccine production.

Under the third phase, India from May 1, 2021 opened up its Covid-19 vaccination drive to those over 18 years of age.
