Covid-19 Updates: India Reports Less Than 50,000 New Cases On A Day It Hits Vaccine Record
Fresh cases of Covid-19 in India dropped below 50,000 at a time the country begins a drive to vaccinate all adults for free.
42,600 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the lowest in almost three months, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on June 22.
Recoveries during the same period remained significantly higher at nearly 82,000, taking active cases below 7 lakh.
The daily fatality rate remained below 2,000 for the fifth straight day. 1,167 patients succumbed to the illness in 24 hours taking the total death toll to 3.89 lakh.

India administered a record 86 lakh shots on Monday, the first day vaccines were available free to all adults. However, the nearly 29 crore doses given so far covers only about 10% of the nation’s population.
