Mumbai’s municipal corporation has opened its first drive-in vaccination facility.

Located at Dadar West, at the Kohinoor Parking lot, the vaccination centre has 7 rooms and will vaccinate those above 45 years of age who are eligible for their second dose of Covishield, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said on Twitter.

On the first day the drive-in center vaccinated 417 people. The booths were also serving on-foot traffic.

These images were provided by BMC. BloombergQuint has not visited the facility.

On May 6, the BMC Commissioner directed all zonal deputy municipal commissioners to set up one drive-in vaccination center in each administrative zone in the city within 24 hours.

To be located in big open grounds, these centers will vaccinate only citizens above 60 years, by online appointment, said a BMC statement.
