India reports more than 40,000 new cases of Covid-19 after three days of respite, at a time states continue to reconcile pandemic-related data.
Nearly 42,000 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry's update as of 8 a.m on July 15. Recoveries during the same period were lower at 39,000, taking the active caseload back above 4.3 lakh.

The daily fatality rate remained below 1,000 for a second day after India recorded 2,020 deaths on Tuesday. Madhya Pradesh had reported an additional 1,481 deaths after district administrations cleared a backlog and uploaded information on the 'Sarthak' portal.
Maharashtra Scraps RT-PCR Tests For Fully Vaccinated Travellers
Fully vaccinated travellers will no longer have to produce a negative RT-PCR test result before entering Maharashtra, provided that 15 days have lapsed since the second dose was taken.
The exemption will be applicable for domestic and international travellers, an order issued by the chief secretary said. The interval for the validity of the RT-PCR test for all the other passengers will be now 72 hours instead of 48 hours.
