Covid-19 India Updates: Fresh Cases Drop Just Below The 40,000-Mark

India's daily Covid-19 infection rate dropped just below the 40,000-mark, as the threat of a projected third wave looms over the country.

More than 38,600 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's Aug. 14 update. Less than 36,000 patients recovered during the same period, taking the nation's active case load marginally higher above 3.87 lakh.

Active cases constitute 1.21% of India's total Covid tally, the lowest since March 2020. The current recovery rate of 97.45% is the highest ever, the Health Ministry added.
