Covid-19 India Updates: Fresh Cases Back Above 40,000, Over 50 Crore Given First Vaccine Dose

Fresh cases of Covid-19 in India spiked over 40,000 once again, after a brief respite.

As many as 41,965 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 9 a.m. on Sept. 1.

Daily recoveries, at around 35,000, failed to overtake fresh cases, leading to a spike in the country's active case load to 3.78 lakh.

  • Doses administered in the last 24 hours: 1,33,18,718

India's nationwide inoculation campaign also gathered steam in August as a total of over 17 crore doses were administered during the month. Over 50 crore people in the country have received at least one dose, while nearly 15 crore have been fully vaccinated.
