New cases of Covid-19 in India dropped below the 40,000-mark, at a time several states have started easing local restrictions.
More than 37,000 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry's update as of 8 a.m on July 12. The country recorded nearly 40,000 recoveries during the same period, taking the active caseload marginally lower to 4.5 lakh.
724 people succumbed to the deadly disease in a day. The total pandemic death toll in the world's second most populous nation stood above 4 lakh.
