Coronavirus India Updates: Tally Tops 91.7 Lakh With Nearly 38,000 New Cases

India’s confirmed coronavirus cases continued their climb amid rising concerns of a fresh wave of outbreak.

India reported 37,975 new cases in 24 hours, taking the total tally near 91.7 lakh in the world’s second-worst infected country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Nov. 24. That includes over 86 lakh recoveries and more than 1.34 lakh deaths.

Active cases have fallen below 4.4 lakh, after falling from a peak of over 10 lakh in mid-September, as new infections outpace recoveries.

Active cases now account for 4.77% of the total conformed cases while recoveries amount for around 94%.

Global Update

The coronavirus is forecast to claim another 30,000 American lives by mid-December, a model from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows. New York state will reopen an emergency facility on Staten Island. California’s governor is quarantining. Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed England’s national lockdown will end next week, to be replaced by a three-tier system of regional restrictions. Japan may have new measures.

Globally, Covid-19 cases crossed 59 million with more than 1.39 million dead.
