Coronavirus India Updates: Tally Tops 60 Lakh With 50 Lakh Recovered

Coronavirus infections in India crossed the 60-lakh mark today even as new cases showed signs of slowing and 50 lakh of these have recovered.
The country added over 82,000 new cases in a matter of 24 hours taking the total tally over the 60-lakh-mark in Asia’s third-largest economy, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 28.
The last 10 lakh infections have been reported over a span of just 12 days. However, India also took just 11 days to report the last 10 lakh recoveries, taking the total number of active cases close to 9.6 lakh -- lower than the 10.17 lakh it had reached earlier this month.

Global Update
Covid-19 is spreading “at an alarming rate” in eight New York City neighborhoods, the health department said, even as infections statewide receded from the 1,000-case threshold. France and Italy reported a decline in fresh cases while infections in the U.K. increased by 5,693 after rising by more than 6,000 for the previous four days.
Globally, Covid-19 cases topped 32.9 million with over 995,400 dead, as of Monday morning.
