Coronavirus India Updates: Over 20 Lakh Inoculated Amid Declining Active Cases
India added less than 13,000 fresh Covid-19 cases in a day at a time the government is struggling to convince people regarding the safety of the vaccines.
India reported 12,689 new cases in the last 24 hours according to the health ministry’s data as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday. That’s lower than the 13,320 patients who recovered from the virus in the same time period, taking active cases below 1.77 lakh. India had over 10 lakh live infections in mid-September.
A year has passed since India detected the first case of Covid-19 in Kerala. The virus since has infected over 1.06 crore people; 1.03 crore recovered, while more than 1.53 lakh have succumbed to it. The nation has vaccinated more than 20 lakh frontline workers against the virus.

Covid-19 Vaccination: Over 20 Lakh Beneficiaries Inoculated
Over 20 lakh healthcare workers across the country have received Covid-19 vaccine jabs till Tuesday evening, as per provisional reports, the Union health ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry said that on the eleventh day of the nationwide immunisation drive, 5,615 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7 p.m. in five states -- Tamil Nadu (4926), Karnataka (429), Rajasthan (216), Telangana (35) and Andhra Pradesh (9) -- through 194 sessions.
It said in view of Republic Day, a limited number of sessions in a limited number of states were conducted on Tuesday.
According to Health ministry data, the highest number of vaccinations in the country till now have been carried out in Karnataka at 2,31,601 followed by Odisha at 1,77,090, Rajasthan at 1,61,332 and Maharashtra at 1,36,901.
