India's Covid-19 spread officially continues to slow even as the number of confirmed cases crossed the 1 crore milestone in the world’s second-most populous nation.
The south Asian nation added 26,624 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, adding to 1 crore market that it crossed a day earlier, according to the Health Ministry’s update at 8 a.m. on Dec. 20.
New infections have remained below 30,000 for the seventh straight day, a significant improvement from the daily tally of nearly 1 lakh reported in mid-September. Single-day deaths also remain below 400. At more than 29000, daily recoveries continued to surpass new cases for over two weeks now. Active cases have fallen below the 3.2-lakh mark.
