Fresh cases of coronavirus infection in India dropped below 10,000 as the nation conducts the world’s largest vaccination drive.

India reported 9,102 new cases in the last 24 hours -- the lowest since June 3 -- according to the health ministry’s data as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday. India is conducting the world's biggest inoculation drive for its frontline workers with two vaccines—Covidshield, the U.K.’s Oxford-AstraZeneca manufactured by Serum Institute of India Ltd.; Covaxin, locally developed shot by Bharat Biotech International Ltd. that has been granted emergency approval even before it submitted phase 3 trial and efficacy data. India is also shipping out vaccines to neighbouring countries Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Maldives and Seychelles while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Mauritius are awaiting clearance.
