Karnataka Imposes Night Curfew Till Jan. 7
After Kerala, Karnataka has now imposed a night curfew (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) in the state from Dec. 28 until Jan. 7, in view of the rising Omicron cases, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant tweeted.
Telangana Report 12 More Omicron Cases
Telangana has detected 12 new Omicron cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 55. Of those, then have been completely recovered.
Kerala Imposes Night Curfew
The government of Kerala has imposed a night curfew (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) from Dec. 30 to Jan. 2 amid rising Omicron cases in the state.
Kerala currently has over 50 such cases, the third-highest in the country.
Omicron Updates
India's Omicron tally now stands at 578, including 151 recoveries. The nation has added 156 fresh cases of the new Covid-19 variant in the last 24 hours—the biggest one-day jump.
Delhi reported the highest number of Omicron cases, closely followed by Maharashtra. The western state has seen the highest recoveries.
Daily Covid-19 Update
India added fewer Covid-19 cases than the previous day even as the 'highly-transmissible' Omicron continues to gradually spread across the country.
The world's second-most populous country recorded 6,531 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's update at 8 a.m. on Dec. 27. That compares with 7,141 recoveries during the same period.
