India's daily infection rate remained below 30,000 even as a projected third wave is expected to peak in October.

As many as 28,326 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 26.

That compares with the 26,032 recoveries recorded during the period. Active cases, stood at about 3 lakh, coprising less than 1% of the total tally.

India has administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to over 85 crore recepients, while over 68 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours. Nearly about 22.5 crore have received both the jabs.
