Omicron Mild, India Better Prepared To Handle Surge In Cases, Says AIIMS Director

International Passengers From UAE To Undergo Mandatory Test On Arrival
All international passengers arriving from UAE into Maharashtra have to undergo an RT-PCR test on arrival, the BMC said in an order.
Such passengers will also have to follow a mandatory 7-day home quarantine, it added.
Maharashtra Reports 85 Omicron Cases
Maharashtra recorded 85 fresh Omicron cases, taking the state's tally of the variant to 252. Out of 252 Omicron cases in the state, Mumbai has recorded 137 cases of the variant alone.
The state has recorded 3,900 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with 20 people succumbing to the virus.

Dehradun Mandates Negative RT-PCR Test Or Vaccination Certificate For Entry
Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun has mandated visitors to present a negative Covid-19 certificate not older than 72 hours or a full vaccination certificate for entry into the district.
Goa Imposes Fresh Curbs Amid Rise In Cases
The government of Goa has allowed entry to the state to only fully-vaccinated people or those with a negative Covid-19 test report not older than 72 hours.
Casinos, cinema halls and theatres, auditoriums, river cruises, water and entertainment parks can now operate at 50% capacity. Those entering such places will also have to produce certificates proving full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test not older than 24 hours.
Delhi Adds Over 900 Fresh Covid-19 Cases
Delhi's Covid-19 cases reported a spike as the national capital added 923 cases in the past 24 hours. About 496 cases were reported yesterday, marking an 86% rise in new cases today.
The positivity rate in Delhi has now jumped to 1.29%, with 2,191 active cases in the city.
Bengaluru Logs 400 Out Of 566 Cases In Karnataka
The state government of Karnataka has reported 566 new Covid-19 cases with six people losing their lives to Covid-19 in the last 24-hours.
Bengaluru made up 400 of the new cases in the state alone.
Mumbai Reports Over 2,510 New Covid-19 Cases
Mumbai reported 2,510 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and one death, according to data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The data also reported 259 recoveries from the disease.
The Omicron case tally in Mumbai has now reached 137.
Uttarakhand Reports 38 New Covid Cases
The Uttarakhand Health Department reported 38 new Covid-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases now stand at 222 in the state.
Andhra Pradesh Reports 10 More Omicron Cases
Andhra Pradesh has reported 10 new Omicron cases on Tuesday, taking the total tally in the state to 16, according to state data. The press note reported that the patients are all healthy and are isolating.
No Omicron Patient In Delhi Has Required Oxygen Support, Says State Health Minister
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain told ANI that not a single Omicron patient in the state has required oxygen support so far. Delhi currently has close to 250 such cases, the highest in the country.
He added that Delhi's Covid-19 positivity rate is around 1%, after it reported 496 new cases yesterday. "The cases have increased with the arrival of international flights," Jain said.

India's Omicron tally stands at 781, including 241 recoveries. The nation has added 128 fresh cases of the new Covid-19 variant in the last 24 hours.
Delhi has the highest number of Omicron cases, while Maharashtra reported no new such case. Recoveries in both states, too, rose.
India added the most Covid-19 cases in three weeks as the Omicron continues to spread rapidly in the world's second-most populous country.
The nation reported as many as 9,195 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update at 8 a.m. on Dec. 29. That compares with nearly 7,347 recoveries during the period. India had last reported more than 9,000 fresh infections on Dec. 9.
