Active Covid-19 cases in India dropped further to 2.4 lakh, even as the country's death toll surpassed 4.5 lakh.
As many as 21,257 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Oct. 8. That compares with 24,963 recoveries in the same period.
A total of 4.5 lakh people have succumbed to the deadly pathogen, with 271 fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours. The country is the world's third-worst hit, with only the U.S. and Brazil recording more deaths.
