Maharashtra Announces New Covid-19 Guidelines
The government of Maharashtra has banned gatherings of more than 5 people in public places across the state from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. amid rising Covid-19 cases. It has also decided to allow a maximum of 100 people in indoor weddings and 250 in outdoor weddings.
Gyms, spa, hotel, theaters and cinema halls in the state can also operate at 50% capacity only.
Maharashtra Sees 20 More Omicron Cases
Maharashtra has reported 1,410 new cases, 12 deaths and 868 discharges today.
As many as 20 new cases of the omicron variant of the coronavirus were reported in the state today, which takes the tally to 108. Out of these, 54 cases have been discharged after testing negative.
Three Of 183 Omicron Patients Had Taken Third Vaccine Dose: Health Ministry
Three patients of 183 Omicron positive cases reported in India had taken a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, the Health Ministry said in a press briefing.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the government had analysed 183 omicron positive cases to notice certain trends. "121 cases had international travel history. 44 were contacts of international travellers. Of the 183, 87 were fully vaccinated, two were partially vaccinated, seven were unvaccinated while three had received three doses," Bhushan said.
He added that 70% of the 183 cases were asymptomatic, while the rest showed symptoms.
Deliberations On Booster Shots Underway: ICMR DG
Indian Council of Medical Research Director-General Balram Bhargava, during a press briefing, said deliberations on vaccine booster shots are underway and that authorities are reviewing scientific data to formulate a policy around that.
India's Omicron Tally
India reported 87 new Omicron cases in the last 24 hours. With this the country's tally of the new variant of coronavirus rose to 358.
