Omicron Cases In India Rise To 25
The total number of omicron cases in India have risen to 25, joint secretary at Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lav Agarwal said. Maharashtra leads the tally with 10, followed by Rajasthan (9), Gujarat (3), Karnataka (2) and Delhi (1).
He added that all cases in India have mild symptoms.
Fresh Covid-19 cases in India beat daily recoveries for the second straight day amid concerns of the new Omicron variant that spreads faster.
The world’s second-most populous nation added 8,503 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 10.
Higher additions than recoveries in a day pushed up the active cases. Still, that’s the lowest since the onset of the pandemic, accounting for less than 1% of the nation’s total caseload.
India’s daily positivity rate stood at 0.66%. It has stayed less than 2% for the last 67 days. The weekly positivity rate at 0.72% remained below 1% for the last 26 days.
