Third Omicron Case Confirmed In India
The third case in India of the omicron variant of the coronavirus has been detected in Gujarat's Jamnagar. The patient is a Zimbabwe returnee, a country that has been designated 'at-risk' by India.
This comes days after India reported its first omicron cases in Karnataka.

This is the third case of Omicron variant in the country.
TheIndia's active cases remained flat even as the country tightened curbs and issued fresh guidelines for international and domestic travelers amid heightened concerns around the omicron variant.
As many as 8,603 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Dec. 2. That compares with nearly 8,190 recoveries during the period.
India's active caseload now stands at 99,974, accounting for about 0.29% of the total cases.
That comes when at least two cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus were detected in Karnataka and several more samples from passengers arriving at airports have been sent for genomic sequencing.
