India Has Vaccinated 73% Of Adult Population With One Dose: Official

India has so far vaccinated 73% of its adult population with at least one Covid vaccine, a government official said, asking not to be identified cited rules, according to Bloomberg.

The government, he said, is in talks with other nations to recognise Covaxin even as it await WHO approval. He further added that there's no expert opinion yet on whether a third booster shot will be required.

The government also aims to reach the 100-crore vaccine mark by Oct. 19, he said. India has administered 96.43 crore vaccines as of 8 a.m. today.

India's active cases fell to 2.07 lakh, the lowest in over seven months, as the country's daily case count remained low amid a pick up in vaccination.

As many as 15,823 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Oct. 13.

That compares with 22,844 recoveries in the same period. Active cases currently account for only 0.61% of the total cases.
