India's active cases fell for the third day in a row even as concerns around the new variant Omicron loom.
As many as 8,306 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Dec. 6. That compares with nearly 8,834 recoveries during the period.
India's active caseload now stands at 98,416—the lowest since March 2020—accounting for about 0.28% of the total cases.
Daily deaths also fell from Sunday's high.

More Omicron Cases Found In Rajasthan And Maharashtra
Total nine cases of Omicron variant have been detected in Jaipur and seven in Pune, taking the total tally in the country to 21.
In Maharashtra, a family of six, including a woman and her two daughters who had travelled from Nigeria, her brother and his two daughters in Pimpri Chinchwad and a man who had travelled from Finland have tested positive for the new variant of Coronavirus, state health department said.
Out of the nine cases found in Jaipur, four people had returned from South Africa recently, news agency PTI reported.
