The BSE Consumer Durables Index rose to a 11-month high ahead of the summer when demand for home appliances jump, driven by TTK Prestige Ltd., Symphony Ltd. and Voltas Ltd.
The index is up 30 percent since October last year, reaching a level last touched in April 2018. TTK Prestige Ltd. gained nearly 56 percent in the same period followed by Symphony Ltd. and Voltas Ltd., which rose 28 percent and 44 percent, respectively.
Farm subsidies and increased rural electrification is expected to push demand for consumer durables, according to Vinit Bolinjkar, research head of Equities of Ventura Securities.
