New Zealand’s Housing Boom Is Being Stoked by Immigration: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- Moving to New Zealand comes at a heftier price, with record immigration fanning an already booming property market. The central bank has sought to curb growth by introducing loan-to-value restrictions on buyers and investors, but that hasn’t damped the desire of new arrivals to stash their money in bricks and mortar. About a quarter of the immigration is Kiwis returning home to one of the developed world’s fastest-growing economies.
