Twitter Acquires Design Firm Ueno, Adding About 50 Employees

Twitter Inc. acquired design agency Ueno, adding the firm’s nearly 50 employees to improve the quality of its social-media service and speed the rollout of new products.

Ueno, which has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Reykjavik, Iceland, lists Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Facebook Inc. and Uber Technologies Inc. among its clients. Twitter was also a Ueno client and a company spokesman said the firm will wrap up existing projects before closing the agency entirely. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

Twitter has made a number of deals colloquially known as acqui-hires, or purchases intended mainly to bring on new talent and teams of workers, in the past month or so, including social video app Squad and podcast company Breaker.
