Tata Power's Unit Secures Solar And Battery Projects Worth Rs 945 Crore

Tata Solar Systems to set up 100 MW EPC solar project along with 120 MWh battery energy storage system project in Chattisgarh.

Tata Solar Systems Ltd. has been awarded solar and battery storage projects worth Rs 945 crore by Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd.

The wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Co. received a letter of award from SECI to build 100 megawatt EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) solar project and 120 megawatt per hour utility scale battery energy storage system project, according to an exchange filing.

The projects will be built in Chhattisgarh over 18 months, the filing said. The order scope includes engineering, design, supply, construction, erection, testing, O&M and commissioning of the projects.

"This is the second grid-scale solar plant with BESS (battery energy storage system) and is recognition of Tata Power Solar’s pioneering work in project execution capabilities in the solar energy domain,” Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer and managing director of Tata Power, was quoted as saying in a statement.

With this, the EPC order book of Tata Power Solar stands at 4.4 GW DC capacity with an approximate value of Rs 9,000 crore without goods and services tax.

Shares of Tata Power Co. Ltd. ended the day 4.8% higher at Rs 227.25 apiece.
