As a pandemic-ravaged 2021 draws to a close, India’s largest conglomerate will focus on four themes in the coming year: digital, new energy, supply-chain resilience, and health.

“Our companies are already adapting to these changes, and we are witnessing stronger performance,” N Chandrasekaran, chairman at group parent Tata Sons Pvt., said in a New Year message to employees across the salt-to-software conglomerate. “Our new pilots and businesses, from 5G to TataNeu and Tata Electronics, are poised to benefit from these four themes.”

Still, there’s a more immediate concern: “learning to live with the coronavirus”. Businesses and society, he said, must adapt to it by preparing as best they can for new outbreaks and variants. “We are seeing this now with the spread of Omicron.”

While the nation rushes to vaccinate its citizens against the contagious pathogen, he said this isn’t the time to "guard down". "Looking forward to 2022, I encourage everyone to follow the latest health protocols...”
