Tanishq, a jewellery brand owned by Titan Co., plans to restart operations across the country in a phased manner, beginning with 50 stores by May 10.

The stores that reopen will comply with all rules related to the Covid-19 lockdown, Tanishq said in a statement.

The lockdown remains in place across India, but with significant relaxations in areas that have not been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

A safety e-book, which covers all staff and customer touch points, has been issued and is being adhered to at stores. It entails safety measures, including contactless shopping and strict social distancing at all times, Tanishq said.

“We are reopening our stores in a phased manner because each store has to pass an eligibility test prior to re-commencing operations,” Ajoy Chawla, chief executive officer of the jewellery division at Titan Co. was quoted in the release as saying.
