Solarglass Can Survive a Two-Story Pumpkin Drop. Elon Musk Has Video

(Bloomberg) -- Tesla’s Solarglass can survive a pumpkin being dropped from a two-story building, a Halloween-themed test of durability that may ease questions about how the product could fare against inclement weather.

CEO Elon Musk last week announced his company finally has a version of the tiles that it can mass produce. Tesla has a goal of getting to 1,000 roofs a week in the next several months, though Musk conceded there may be setbacks along the way.

The roof system’s setbacks over the last three years were nothing compared to the pumpkin’s in its final three seconds.

To be clear, it was a carved pumpkin in the video Musk put on Twitter, and no, we’re not sure quite how that changes the dynamic. But if you want to assess the relative strength of Tesla’s rooftop solar system, or just watch a pumpkin fall 20 feet down onto something hard and disintegrate, well...

Happy Halloween.
