(Bloomberg) -- Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Edward Markey are urging a Senate committee to investigate Carnival Corp.’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement Wednesday, the senators cited reports indicating that Carnival continued sailing as Covid-19 spread, even after recognizing the risks to passengers and crew.
The statement was accompanied by a letter to Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican from Mississippi and the chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
The letter cites Bloomberg Businessweek’s recent cover story detailing Carnival’s challenges and delays in addressing the Covid-19 outbreaks.
