Raid in Disputed South Sudan Border Region Leaves 32 Dead

(Bloomberg) --

At least 32 people were killed on Wednesday in an attack on the border between Sudan and South Sudan, according to a local official.

Twenty-four people were injured, 15 children abducted and 22 houses torched in a Dinka village, Kuol Alor Kuol, chief administrator of Abyei, said in an emailed statement.

Abyei has remained a contested region since 2011 when South Sudan gained independence from Sudan, its northern neighbor.
