India will definitely get its economic growth back in the aftermath of the coronavirus lockdown, as the government continues to pursue various reforms, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday.

He called on India Inc. to participate in the drive to make the country self-reliant.

"I request you to come up with a detailed study of every sector with consensus. Think Big. We will together take up all structural reforms that will change the course of our country. We will together build an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” PM Modi said while addressing the annual general meeting of Confederation of Indian Industry.

According to him, the government has taken tough steps to fight the coronavirus pandemic and taken care of the economy.

"On the one hand, we have to safe lives and on the other, we've to stabilise and speed up the economy," he said. "Yes, we will definitely get our growth back.”

Modi said he gets that confidence from farmers, small businesses and entrepreneurs. "Coronavirus may have slowed our speed (of growth) but India has now moved ahead from lockdown with the phase one of unlock. Unlock Phase-1 has reopened a large part of the economy.”

Intent, inclusion, investment, infrastructure and innovation are crucial for India to revert to a high-growth trajectory, the prime minister said.

"For us, reforms are not random or scattered decisions. For us reforms are systemic, planned, integrated, inter-connected and futuristic process," he said. "For us, reforms mean courage to take decisions and taking them to logical conclusion."
