Padmaavat is off to a good start at the national as well as international box-office. The film has raked in Rs 24 crore on day 1 in India, despite limited screenings in some states. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh feels it would have made Rs 28 crore to Rs 30 crore if it had a smooth opening.

Business however, is expected to pick up over the long weekend.

According to Adarsh, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has already taken a “fantabulous start” in the international markets of Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

As per reports, many theatres in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have refused to screen Padmaavat, which would also impact its collections.

However, Komal Nahta seems optimistic, according to him the figures of Padmaavat may have already surpassed that of Baahubali and Dangal.
