Pacific Princess Docks in Los Angeles to Unload Last Passengers

Carnival Corp.’s Pacific Princess arrived at the Port of Los Angeles Monday, leaving the world’s largest cruise company with just one ship still trying to deliver its passengers to harbor.

The Pacific Princess has 119 guests on board, the division of Carnival said Monday. Disembarkation may last several days because the cruise line is coordinating travel home for guests, including charter flights and private ground transportation.

Carnival and other cruise operators suspended cruising in mid-March, after coronavirus outbreaks on several vessels. The Diamond Princess was among the earliest hit and was for a time the site of the largest coronavirus outbreak outside of mainland China.

The Pacific Princess left Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jan. 5 for a 111-day cruise around the world. Most of the passengers left in Australia on March 21. The majority of those remaining were deemed medically unfit for the long flight back to the U.S. from Australia for non-Covid-19 reasons, according to the company.
