London Court Refuses Nirav Modi Bail Again, Next Hearing on 26 Apr

A joint CBI-ED team also flew to London on Wednesday to assist local authorities in the extradition case.

PNB scam accused Nirav Modi’s second bail plea was rejected by Westminster Magistrates’ court in London on Friday, 29 March.

The prosecution argued that Nirav Modi “threatened to kill” a witness and destroyed evidence. He was also accused of not cooperating with the Indian agencies.

The next date of hearing in the matter is on 26 April.

His first plea had been rejected on 20 March, after his arrest on 19 March. A London court had issued an arrest warrant against him on 18 March.

Nirav Modi Isn't Cooperating With Indian Agencies, Says Prosecution

Toby Cadman, representing crown prosecution on behalf of Indian authorities, in his final submission at London's Westminster Magistrate court has said that Nirav Modi is not cooperating with the Indian agencies and there is a risk he will fly out.

According to media reports, the prosecutor in Nirav Modi extradition case has claimed that Nirav Modi “threatened to kill” a witness and destroyed evidence.

Cadman also said that there is risk that Nirav Modi will influence witnesses and destroy evidence. The hearing in the matter will now resume, after the lunch break, at 2.10 pm (London time).

Toby Cadman, representing the crown prosecution on behalf of the Indian authorities in London's Westminster Magistrate court, told ANI, “In case Nirav Modi gets bail, we will appeal against it in the High Court. We will do everything to keep him in.”
