Tata Sons Pvt.’s N Chandrasekaran has been named chairman of Air India.

The board has given its nod to Chandra’s appointment, a Tata Sons spokesperson told BloombergQuint. The struggling carrier was recently acquired by the Tata Group from the central government.

Chandrasekaran was reappointed as chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company and promoter of more than 100 Tata operating companies, in February for a second term of five years. He had joined the board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was appointed chairman in January 2017.

The airline is also looking for a new chief executive officer after Former Turkish Airlines Chairman Ilker Ayci declined Tata Sons’ offer for the role.
