More Than 3.26 Lakh Unsolicited Telemarketing Call Complaints During July-September

Regulations prescribe default timeline from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for marketing calls to mobile users.

Over 3.26 lakh complaints relating to unsolicited telemarketing calls have been lodged by consumers with their telecom service providers during July-September, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday.

The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 have prescribed default timeline from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for marketing calls to mobile users.

Consumers also have an option to choose any time band for receiving communications as per their preference for any category/categories of communications.

“As per the details of complaints lodged by consumers with the service providers and uploaded by the service providers on TRAI portal www.nccptrai.gov.in, 3,26,264 numbers of complaints relating to voice Unsolicited Commercial Communications have been lodged by consumers with their service providers during the period 1.07.2019 to 30.09.2019,” Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
