Private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather expects monsoon to hit most parts of central and western India soon, after heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its outskirts over the weekend.

“We expect heavy rains over most parts of Madhya Pradesh and south Gujarat in the next couple of days,” Vice President-Meteorology Mahesh Palawat told BloombergQuint in an interview. “Good rains will continue at least till July 12,” he added.

The India Meteorological Department had yesterday said that monsoon is making steady progress and that it is likely to reach central and north India this week.
