Mizuho Americas Head of Health-Care Investment Banking Leaves Firm

Mizuho Financial Group Inc. senior health-care investment banker Jason Fertig has left the firm to join Bank of Nova Scotia, according to people with knowledge of the matter who requested anonymity discussing a move that was not yet public.

Mizuho and Scotiabank spokespeople declined to comment. Fertig didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

New York-based Fertig joined Mizuho in 2016 as a managing director and head of North American health-care investment banking, with a focus on specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, life sciences and emerging medical technology, according to a statement at the time.

Before that, he was co-head of Americas health-care investment banking at Nomura Holdings Inc., and a specialty pharmaceutical sector-focused banker at Barclays Plc and Lehman Brothers, his LinkedIn profile shows.
