Metropolis Healthcare Ltd. looks to enhance its market share in the business-to-consumer segment by achieving greater penetration in cities where it already has significant presence, the diagnostics chain’s Managing Director Ameera Shah said.

The company, Shah said, has identified five cities, including Mumbai and Chennai, as its “engines of profit” where it has a strong brand, operational strength and good distribution. “This is a really low-hanging fruit for us.”

Metropolis is also betting on its business-to-consumer segment through which it intends to derive 60-65 percent of its total revenue in the next few years by focusing on these cities. That, she said, would be achieved with healthy volumes, moving up the value chain and marginal price hikes.

Mergers and acquisitions are important to our growth, but not the primary reason, Shah said. The company may plan strategic acquisitions in geographies where it lacks consumer presence, she said.
