Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. will resume operations at its Manesar plant in Haryana from May 12, the country’s largest carmaker said on Wednesday.

All activities would be carried out in accordance with government regulations and guidelines, and the company's own standards of safety, the company said.

Maruti’s Manesar plant is outside the limits of Gurugram Municipal Corporation while the Gurugram plant is inside the city. Together, they have an installed capacity of 15.5 lakh units per annum. Operations at the facilities were suspended on March 22 on account of the nationwide lockdown.

On April 22, the Haryana government granted permission to Maruti Suzuki to restart the Manesar plant, but the company had said it will resume operations only when it can maintain continuous production and sell vehicles, "which is not possible at this point of time".
